As one of the premier event venues in Atlanta, we at The Estate know the importance of choosing the right flowers. Whether you decide to make us the site for your wedding, or you are planning to have one of your social or corporate events in Atlanta’s most beautiful Buckhead estate, we can help you choose flowers that add just the right touch.
One way to minimize your floral budget and get the best selection is to choose seasonal flowers. No matter what your theme or color scheme, you can find flowers that are available nearby. Let’s take a look at them by season—starting with autumn.
Autumn (September-November)
For a colorful autumn floral arrangement, you can choose snap dragons, gerbera daisies, kangaroo paw, or zinnias. If you prefer yellow, you can choose autumn daffodils or even sunflowers. If purple is your theme, you have lots to choose from, including freesia, irises, delphiniums, hyacinth, and lisianthus. White flowers are in abundance, including magnolias, star of Bethlehem, lilies of all sorts, and stephanotis, which make a lovely wedding bouquet. If you prefer pink, magnolias (also beautiful in white) and peonies are in season, as of course, are roses and orchids.
Winter (December-February)
If you are planning a winter wedding or other event, many of the autumn flowers are still widely available, including alstroemeria, deliriums, magnolias, star of Bethlehem, peonies, roses, lilies, iris gerbera, snap dragons, and stephanotis. Poppies also make a bright centerpiece or bouquet, as do tulips. Larkspurs are beautiful for a purple theme, and gardenias are lovely. Hydrangea make a lovely purple bloom, and also come in white and pink. Dahlias and pansies are a bright addition to any winter event.
Spring (March-May)
The selection of flowers becomes greater, with cornflower for a colorful blue, scabiosa in purple, and tulips of all colors in bloom everywhere. Orchids come in a variety of colors, as well as white. Cherry blossoms and crepe myrtle come into bloom, and make beautiful spring centerpieces, arbor covers, and accents to wedding bouquets.
Summer (June-August)
As the most popular wedding season begins, so does prime flower season. Daffodils are the perfect flowers for a yellow color scheme. For an outdoor summer event, it is important to choose strong flowers that won’t wilt in the heat, such as sunflowers, zinnias, dahlias, lilies, and hydrangeas. Avoid gardenias, lily of the valley, tulips, and wildflowers.
